In a post shared on Instagram, Charlamagne Tha God shared a realization he had upon hearing Jay-Z’s recent freestyle at the Roots Picnic, which appeared to diss several of his former collaborators.
In his freestyle at the Roots Picnic in Philadelphia on Saturday (May 30), HOV seemingly took aim at several people he was previously associated with, including the artist formerly known as Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Tory Lanez, Dame Dash, and, perhaps most crucially, Drake. Alongside a clip of the freestyle, as originally shared by Complex, Charlamagne realized that if Jay feels this way about these people, then that means someone else significant probably does, too.
“Getting dissed by Jay-Z is one thing,” wrote Charlamagne. “Realizing Beyoncé probably feels the same way? That’s devastating.”
In the freestyle, the biggest diss appeared to be directed at Drake, who recently took aim at HOV on his No. 1 Iceman single, “Janice STFU.”
“You boys got big on my name, that’s big enough/We know how you OGs rocking already, my n***a, the jig is up,” Drizzy raps on the track, which HOV made a direct reference to in his freestyle.
“The jig is up/N***a I’m up 10/Wrong chart, champ, you gotta look up again/N***as look up to Hov/I never looked up to them,” Jay-Z rapped.
Other choice bars from HOV included a reference to a viral video of Dame Dash, his former business partner, losing his teeth. He also seemingly clowned Nicki Minaj for her recent embrace of conservative politics, plus her husband, Kenneth Petty, who’s a registered sex offender. In a diss aimed at Ye, with whom he’s famously fallen out in recent years, Jay appeared to criticize him for derogatory remarks made about his and Beyoncé’s children, Rumi and Sir, last year.
