Shortly after confirming that his new album Better Me Than You has been delayed, Big Sean has recruited Jordan Howlett to soften the blow in a series of sketches shared on Instagram.
"So, the album didn't drop tonight," said Sean in a video filmed in front of a mirror, as seen below. "Maybe some days from now it will. But the last track ["On Up"] I did was about my son. As a new dad, I realized that I don't know that many recipes. So, I guess my best bet is to ask Jordan. I guess I do that by zooming in and saying, 'Come here.'"
Jordan Howlett almost immediately appeared but made it clear to Sean that people can't just "summon" him, even if his surprise appearances are becoming a habit. "He just stole my phone, that's a difference," said Howlett, who also compared Big Sean's outfit to a matcha latte. He somehow convinced Sean to wear a denim shirt tucked into grey sweatpants, which he described as a "lose-lose outfit."
The pair kept the bit going in a follow-up video, in which Howlett took responsibility for the last-minute album delay. "Hey guys, I know what you're thinking, I'm probably the last person you wanna see right now," he opened the clip, seen below. "The album's not coming out tonight. And I know what you're thinking, 'Why Jordan? Why is not?' It's my fault. It is my fault."
He said that he heard from Sean that he wanted "lyrical tightness" on the record. Howlett suggested that he had some lyrics that could bring some "heat" to the record, but he got interrupted when Sean returned and asked why he was still there.
Howlett's video with Big Sean comes not long after he made a similar sketch with Donald Glover, to whom he has been compared and called "Grownish Gambino."

Sean's first studio album since 2020, Better Me Than You, was originally scheduled to drop on Friday, Aug. 9. The 36-year-old rapper delayed it earlier this week, however, upon the arrival of the latest single "On Up."
"I gotta push it just a lil bit," he wrote. "Music done but jus organizing listening events, shows etc. might need a extra week or 2 to plan."
