Bianca Censori Talks Directing Kanye West’s "Father" Video: 'Spatial Logic Is Distorted’

In a quote provided to Complex, Censori said that she wanted to depict a church as "a surreal dreamlike environment."

The artist formerly known as Kanye West’s wife, Bianca Censori, directed the music video for his song “Father,” and in a quote provided to Complex, she explained her approach for the striking one-shot video.

The music video for the track, which features Travis Scott, arrived the same day as Ye’s long-awaited Bully album finally arrived on streaming services. Censori directed the video, which features muted tones and is set in a surreal church featuring Ye sitting in the pews before Scott joins the congregation to perform his verse.

“The film presents a church not as a real place, but as a surreal dreamlike environment, where time feels slowed, spatial logic is distorted, and reality becomes fantasy,” Censori, who is an architect, told Complex over email.

Following the release of the music video on Saturday (March 28), Michael Jackson impersonator Fabio Jackson confirmed that he appeared in the music video. He shared a picture of his cameo on his Instagram Stories. “It’s not my project, but I’m happy to say that, yes, I was involved, and yes, that is me,” Fabio said. “It was amazing. All this was very magical to me because this was my very first involvement in a music video.”

Fabio especially had praise for director Censori. “She was welcoming, she was warm, she was happy, positive,” he said of the 31-year-old performance artist. “She was giving such great vibes all the time.”

Ye recently announced that he will perform three consecutive nights at this year’s Wireless Festival in London. Ye’s first formally released solo full-length since 2021’s Donda (though Donda 2 was eventually released to streaming in 2025) had a lengthy journey leading up to its arrival. Ye at one point declared himself “a Nazi” on social media, but later apologized with a full-page ad in the Wall Street Journal in January.
