Azealia Banks wants a redo in the wake of news that the artist formerly known as Kanye West will headline London’s Wireless Festival this year.
Ye and Banks have been through a considerable amount of controversy in recent years, both engaging in offensive comments against various marginalized groups. In a post shared on X, formerly Twitter, Banks reacted to the news of Ye’s three-night run and suggested that she deserves to get several apparently canceled shows rebooked.
“Ok sweet so… can the UK rebook all of the canceled Azealia Banks concerts,” she wrote. “I was on a roll and about to be prime for the O2 arena.”
Last year, Banks went on a series of rants filled with Islamophobic sentiment. The controversial rapper, who defended Donald Trump amid questions about his relationship with Jeffrey Epstein last year, called African Muslims “pitiful and smelly,” and said that Muslims “eat children.”
Per the London Broadcasting Company, Banks pulled out of her scheduled performances at the Boomtown and Maiden Voyage festivals after she claimed the promoters pressured her to say “free Palestine.” She wrote, “I’m not putting on a fucking hijab… More thinly veiled racism. And overt antisemitism from the fucking gays for Hamas.”
Wireless Festival recently confirmed that Ye, who was mired in controversy in recent years for his comments about the Jewish people and apparent embrace of Nazism, would perform at the festival over three nights in July. He met with Rabbi Yoshiayao Yosef Pinto in late 2025, apologized for his antisemitic remarks, and issued an extensive apology letter that blamed his behavior on his struggles with Bipolar disorder.
