50 Cent Shares Jay-Z's "Young Girl" Verse, Questions His Lyrics: 'LOL'

Jay-Z's verse from Pharrell's 2006 solo album 'In My Mind' has resurfaced online—and Fif isn't impressed.

In a post shared on Instagram, 50 Cent questioned the lyrics in an old verse by Jay-Z.

Alongside a photo that featured Jay-Z’s face seemingly edited onto the Predator from the Predator series of movies, Fif shared Hov’s verse on Pharrell’s 2006 track “Young Girl / I Really Like You.”

The song, which featured on Pharrell’s debut studio album, was released while Hov was dating Beyoncé but before they got married in 2008.

“Hov’ got a young girl / Still not quite 21,” he raps in the verse. “So high strung, such a vibrant thing / I introduce myself, ‘Hi, Miss Thing’ / You’re 19? / No, you’re lightning in a bottle I give you a ring tomorrow / The scene that follows / Screams of horror / Classic Stephen King novel / Mama don’t think you should take someone / So advance in romance, you should just wait / Papa don’t preach, Hov don’t bite / Hov been through it, I might mold your life / ‘Cause I’ma show you right / Proper etiquette, how to hold your knife / Keep it competitive with Oprah’s ice / Be like Janet, take control of your life.”

In the caption for the post, Fif wrote, “I know your gonna say I’m a hater, 😳but what do you say about what he’s saying fool ? LOL 😆 get yo ass down the street!”

Jay-Z has a long and complicated relationship with 50 Cent, who attacked Hov with his 1999 single “How to Rob.” Throughout the years, the beef has mostly gotten one-sided, with Fif sending plenty of shots at Jay’s way without much of a response.

In 2022, he claimed he was in a meeting with the rapper, and they got into an argument, only for Beyoncé to allegedly come to her husband’s defense. In 2023, meanwhile, he suggested that Jay-Z has only ever won Grammy Awards because of his marriage to Bey.

More recently, 50 has been goofing around on Instagram posts that make light of Jay’s appearance. In December, he shared a drawing that depicted Jay with an exaggerated face.

“Please stop sending me stuff like this I’m not gonna post it!” he captioned the post.

In a recent chat with Brian J. Roberts, the “Candy Shop” rapper asked what it is that separates him from Jay. He said that the Roc Nation founder wouldn’t collaborate with any of his artists until they’re “doing well enough to not need him” on a song.

Fif said that in contrast, he will always work hard to prop up rising talent and artists to the point of “beating myself up looking out for them.”
