Bad Bunny is set to take the stage in San Francisco on February 8 for the Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show, and with just the teaser, he’s already broken a record.

With 5 million likes and 69.3 million views on his Instagram post at the time of this writing, the Puerto Rican superstar has the most likes, beating out previous years’ performers Rihanna and Kendrick Lamar.

After Apple Music took over the Halftime Show in collaboration with the NFL and Roc Nation, each artist posted a teaser ahead of their performance. Starting in 2023 with Rihanna, she garnered 4.1 million likes and 72 million views on her teaser, which served as a tribute to her home country of Barbados. Usher made his announcement for his 2024 appearance, garnering 238,000 likes and 6.6 million views. Kendrick Lamar teased his appearance months ahead of his 2025 performance, gaining 3 million likes and 54 million views.

Bad Bunny has now smashed this record, holding the most-liked teaser and potentially the most-viewed, as his show continues to be one of the most anticipated Halftime performances in recent history. This follows the initial announcement of him as the performer, which sparked heavy debate online, with some believing heavyweight artists such as Taylor Swift or Drake would be selected instead. Bad Bunny’s announcement post logged 146 million views and over 8 million likes back in September 2025.

His teaser served as a demonstration of multiculturalism, set to his track “BAILE INOLVIDABLE” from his latest 2025 album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS (“An Unforgettable Dance” in English). It featured Bunny dancing to the salsa-laced track alongside a wide range of people, which can be interpreted as a statement that the music will transcend language and cultural barriers.

The teaser arrives amid backlash from right-wing political figures, including Donald Trump, who expressed frustration over Bad Bunny performing entirely in Spanish, stating that he “does not seem like a unifying entertainer and a lot of folks do not even know who he is.”

In response to these comments, Bad Bunny has doubled down on his approach, continuing to speak exclusively in Spanish through his own social media and even through the NFL’s platforms. The NFL announced the performance in Spanish, writing, “El 8 de febrero, el mundo bailará” (“On February 8, the world will dance”), with Bad Bunny posting the same message beneath his viral teaser.

In previous months on Saturday Night Live, Bad Bunny addressed critics of his selection as the Super Bowl performer during his monologue:

“Especialmente todos los Latinos. Todos Latinos y la Latina en el mundo entero y aquí en Los Estados Unidos. Todas las personas han trabajado para abrir puertas más con un logro mío. Mas mas, un logro mío es un logro de todo demostrando nuestra huella nuestra aportación este país. Nadie nunca le podrá sacar ni borrar.”

After this statement, he added, “And if you did not understand what I just said, you have four months to learn.”

On his appearance on Popcast, when hosts asked about singing in Spanish for a global audience, Bunny explained that even Spanish speakers sometimes struggle to understand him due to his use of “Puerto Rican slang.” When asked if he wanted to further explain his lyrics to listeners, Bad Bunny humorously responded by singing the words, “I do not care.”
