It looks like Mariah the Scientist is getting her wish, as her longtime boyfriend Young Thug asked for her hand in marriage during a show.
Footage surfaced on Tuesday showing Thug proposing to Mariah in front of a crowd, pulling out an engagement ring while the words “Will You Marry Me” were displayed in the background. The UY Scuti rapper was performing during his Hometown Hero: Young Thug & Friends - A Benefit Concert at State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
Mariah the Scientist previously shared her desire to get married during a December interview with Angie Martinez, revealing she wants to “settle down.” The 28-year-old, who has been dating Young Thug since 2021, said marriage is a personal goal for her, adding that it’s something she’s focused on.
Mariah said she wants "at least one" child. "I'll start with that and see how I can manage," she continued before explaining why she's eager for marriage.
"I just want a commitment that doesn't involve an obligation to a baby," Mariah said. "I just want it to be out of love, not out of responsibility."
Back in November, GQ asked if the couple was still “going strong.” Thugger replied, “Of course. Just put a baby in her,” prompting laughs and murmurs from the crowd. Mariah and Young Thug reconciled in October after a brief split.
Mariah held Thugger down during his RICO trial, which saw him incarcerated from May 2022 to October 2024.
