XG have shared that their dream collaborator would be none other than Teyana Taylor.
The Japanese pop group spoke about their love for the singer-actress while appearing on the red carpet at the 2026 American Music Awards, which officially marks the first time the group have attended and appeared on a U.S. award show.
When asked by Variety’s Marc Malkin if they could record with any artist regardless of budget, Maya exclaimed Taylor's name, with the rest of the members squealing in agreement.
"We’ve loved her since we were trainees. We love her music," Maya said.
In a separate interview with Billboard’s Tetris Kelly and Love Island’s Chelley Bissainthe, Cocona said: "We love Teyana Taylor, I'm so excited to see her performance tonight."
"Actually, I sang one of her songs for my solo stage on our world tour," Chisa noted, referencing her cover of Teyana’s 2018 single "Gonna Love Me." "I'm sure tonight it's going to be really special for us."
The group also told Billboard they're big fans of the Jonas Brothers, who they actually got to see in concert the night before. "I was fangirling so hard yesterday when we met them," Maya said. "Like, 'Oh my god. We love you guys so much.'"
XG, an acronym for Xtraordinary Genes, made their debut in March 2022 with the single "Tippy Toes." The group, consisting of members Jurin, Chisa, Hinata, Harvey, Juria, Maya, and Cocona are all Japanese members, who trained in South Korea under the K-pop methodology, but perform songs in English.
They later made waves with hits like 2023's "Shooting Star" and "Left Right," before continuing their winning streak with singles like "GALA" and "Hypnotize" from their latest album, The Core - 核, released earlier this year.
In 2025, member Cocona came out as transmasculine non-binary for their 20th birthday in an emotional statement shared to their Instagram. Teen Vogue later confirmed that Cocona uses both they/them and he/him pronouns.
XG will bring their on-going second world tour, XG World Tour: The Core, to North America later this year.
