Deadpool & Wolverine brought two iconic yet seemingly incompatible Marvel characters together into one film, which has inspired fans to revisit an unlikely Y2K boy band pairing from a few years ago. And it doesn't hurt that the No. 1 movie at the box office features a “Bye Bye Bye” dance/fight montage early on.

Fans are rediscovering the unexpected collaboration between Backstreet Boys members Nick Carter and AJ McLean and NSYNC’s Lance Bass and Joey Fatone. They teamed up for a special Pride show in 2021 to benefit the Trevor Project, a non-profit suicide prevention organization and advocacy group for LGBTQ+ youth.

At the time, the video of “BackSync” rehearsing “Bye Bye Bye” went viral on TikTok with over 23 million views on the video platform alone. They went on to perform the song, as well as “I Want it That Way,” at the event.

Now, fans are flocking to social media to compare the NSYNC and Backstreet Boys subunit to the most opposing forces they can think of.

Here are the best reactions on X.
