In light of the catastrophic wildfires in Los Angeles, The Weeknd has a changed his plans for the rollout of his new album.
On Monday, the 34-year-old singer announced through his social media accounts that his concert in the city’s Rose Bowl Stadium, originally scheduled for Jan. 25, is now cancelled “out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County.”
“This city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time,” wrote The Weeknd in a statement.
He also announced that his new album, Hurry Up Tomorrow, originally set to be released on Jan. 24, would be postponed to Jan. 31.
“My focus remains on supporting the recovery of these communities and aiding its incredible people as they rebuild,” he added.
The wildfires that have been burning through the L.A. area since Jan. 7 have claimed the lives of at least 24 people and destroyed over 12,000 structures, according to CBS News. More than 150,000 people in Los Angeles County are currently under evacuation orders.
