Muni Long won’t be giving her songs away to just anyone.

On Thursday, the 36-year-old singer and songwriter said on her Instagram account that she recently had a tense meeting with Atlantic Records.

Long, born Priscilla Renea, said the president of the label asked her to pen “soulful songs” for “non melanated artists.”

“And when I said NO one of em gone say ‘You can reach in that Priscilla Renea vault and see what you have in there,’” she wrote on her Instagram account. “Boy do you know what a VAULT is? That’s where you keep the valuables. If you don’t get somewhere and sit down. I wanted to cuss them out so bad ya’ll. 😅”

As noted by TMZ, Atlantic, whose parent company is Warner Music Group, seems to be focusing on external talent as the company restructures under new leadership from Elliot Grainge after major layoffs in September.

Long is signed with Def Jam (a Universal Music Group label) through a partnership with her label, Supergiant Records.

Some of the notable songs Long has written for non-Black artists throughout the years include “Promise This” for British singer Cheryl, Selena Gomez’s “Who Says,” Madonna’s “Gang Bang,” Kelly Clarkson’s “Love So Soft,” and “Imagine” for Ariana Grande.

Last year, Muni’s “Hrs and Hrs” won a Grammy for Best R&B Performance.
