Lil’ Cease is defending the legacy of his late friend, The Notorious B.I.G. by firing back at modern critics who claim the late Brooklyn legend had “gay” rap lyrics.
In a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, Cease addressed online discussions calling Biggie's older lyrics into question by making it clear that the younger generation is completely misinterpreting the humor of the time period.
"Shit whack. These young n****s be taking too many drugs, they be high on too many pills, and for them to think that way makes me think that these young n****s be gay as fuck. Cuz for you to think of these lyrics and go 'Oh that's sus.' Like, what?" he said near the one-minute and 30-second mark in the video linked here.
The criticism often centers around a specific comedic line from "Me & My Bitch" from 1994's Ready to Die where Biggie raps, "You look so good, huh, I'll suck on your daddy's dick."
"First of all, it's a Richard Pryor joke and if you don't understand the metaphor of what he said then you just a corny dude,” Cease said. “You ain't no type of G, and you don't get no type of pussy in your life if you don't know how to make a girl laugh or be charismatic about nothing,”
He added, “These n****s be too high, too serious, falling asleep high off lean and pills and waking up next to their homeboy, some tight ass jeans. They are weird out here. So I take [a lot of] offense to that.”
He continued, "And I don't like that cuz ... I'm with no slander for my boy. You're not slandering my n**** while he not here."
Elsewhere in the interview, Cease explained that he and Biggie had "hung around some pimps" that had "real game" and "knew how to make women laugh."
"I hate the whole 'pause' era," he added. "If I'm eating a a hot dog [and] that's what's on your mind? N****s is weird out here today. I don't do the pause game. I don't play the pause game, don't pause me. I'm a grown ass man, dog ... We not doing that cuz that you just a weirdo. That's the first thing come to your mind. You thinking on some some gay shit or some like inappropriate shit like that ... What do that say about you?"
He concluded, "If that's the first thing that come to your mind? Then we need to check on you. You the 'sus' guy."
