Akademiks and The Kid Mero got into a heated exchange over social media.
In a recent live stream responding to Ebro Darden, who said Akademiks was seen as an “alcoholic degenerate loser” last week, Ak criticized Ebro for his alleged poor ratings on his former Hot 97 morning show, claiming that it led to his firing.
Akademiks then turned his attention to Ebro’s replacement, The Kid Mero, who began hosting mornings at the legendary hip-hop station in January.
“You guys did suck at your job, but they hired someone who's worse," he said, as seen in the clip above. “Maybe that was a DEl type of thing, I don't know. The new radio host up there at Hot 97, absolutely atrocious. I think he's going to be gone as soon as they get past the mandatory signing period ... He's out the door as soon as that's done.”
Mero appeared to catch wind of Akademik’s comments after a clip farming account reshared the video to X (formerly Twitter).
He responded, writing, “IDK HOW LIVINGSTON GOT FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME AS AN ADULT, YEAH DEFINITELY NOT TALKING TO NEW ARTISTS AT HOT97 NOT AT ALL … LIVI IS A DICKRIDER THAT NEEDS THIS ‘MEDIA GUY GOSSIP’ SHIT TO SURVIVE 😂😂 HE CANT *MAKE* ANYTHING. HE CANT HAVE AN ORIGINAL THOUGHT, FUCKIN FAT DORK.”
Akademiks hit back with, “Objectively… I believe the whole hip hop thought ebum & rosendweeb were a failure. But u even worse. U a DEI hire .. with failing numbers . U getting fired as soon as that guaranteed period runs up. U never had talent it was the other ugly bald n***a w a beard that was the guy.”
He continued, “U the equivalent to Key from Key n Peele. N***a u were the mascot not the actual talent u bum. U need to apologize and go back to sucking the dick of that other ugly n***a w the beard u use to ride his dick for a check. U suck solo.”
In a separate tweet, Akademiks wrote, “I gotta stop punching down… I guess I never forgot bum ass n****s playing wit me in the past .. and their worst nightmares came to past… me where I am now..”
The Kid Mero responded aggressively, writing "MAANNNN SHUT YOUR FAT ASS UP LIVINGSTON😂😂 YOU A FUCKIN *VERIFIED* PEDOPHILE.. I COULD STOP THERE! I HAD YOU CRYING ON STREAM, WHOS PUNCHING DOWN? YOU GETTING ABUSED IN THE REPLIES, YOURE A FAT FUCKIN LOSER DOG. GO BOX SAUCY SANTANA I FUCKIN *DARE YOU* ILL PUT UP HALF A TICKET😂😂😂😂"
Mero doubled-down on the aforementioned claim by sharing screenshots and past streaming clips of Akademiks.
When called out for not denying Akademiks' statements, Mero replied, "CUZ I DIDNT FUCKIN LISTEN TO HIS RUMBLEKICK SLOP U SHITTIN ME? BRO IS A NET NEGATIVE TO SOCIETY WHATEVER НЕ SAYS ABOUT ME IS ALL HIS ALCOHOLIC IDEATION."
While addressing a user who noted Akademiks' business acumen, Mero wrote, “THERES SOMEONE ON ONLYFANS SHITTING IN A BOWL MAKIN THE SAME $$$ …IM RICH, ALSO A 40 YEAR OLD FATHER OF 4. I DONT TALK ABOUT MONEY AS A BAROMETER FOR RESPECT, THATS HOE SHIT."
Mero also criticized Akademiks' inability to create original content, stating, "CREATE OTHER CONTENT, PRODUCE OTHER UP AND COMING VOICES, MAKE FUCKIN MUSIC LITERALLY ANYTHING ASIDE FROM SITTING HIS MUDDY ASS IN THAT CHAIR THAT IS 10000% BEGGING FOR MERCY AND FUCKIN YAPPING ABOUT OTHER MEN AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS.”
He further dismissed the idea that Akademiks is a meaningful voice in hip-hop: "THIS FAT SHIT EATING BULLFROG DOESNT DO ANYTHING AS A 'VOICE OF HIPHOP' EXCEPT TAKE PAYOLA TO LIE ABOUT NEW RELEASES. IF THATS YOUR 'VOICE OF HIPHOP' WE SHOULD DEFINITELY STOP THIS DIALOGUE IMMEDIATELY."
