Justin Timberlake couldn't resist joking about being labeled "white" on his arrest paperwork, as seen in the newly released body camera footage of his 2024 DWI arrest.
As seen in the clip, the pop singer jokingly acted confused to police officers while looking at his arrest paperwork and seeing his race was labeled as “white.”
“White?” Timberlake, then 43, said in the video. “I’m just kidding, man.”
The joke seemingly got some chuckles out of the officers.
Earlier this month, Timberlake’s legal team filed a complaint arguing that the video of his arrest constitutes "an unwarranted invasion of personal privacy."
"The harm from public exposure—stigma, harassment, reputational injury, and the permanent loss of privacy—is immediate and irreparable," Timberlake's attorneys said in the documents, filed in Suffolk County Supreme Court, according to NBC News.
Timberlake was pulled over after he swerved in the road in Sag Harbor, New York, in June 2024. He failed his field sobriety tests after police observed him running a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane.
At the time, he was in the middle of his Forget Tomorrow World Tour, his first tour since 2019.
Although he initially denied being intoxicated, Timberlake pleaded guilty to impaired driving in September 2024 in a plea deal that reduced the original misdemeanor to a noncriminal traffic violation.
He also agreed to give a public safety announcement about the dangers of drunk driving, was fined $500, ordered to complete 25 hours of community service, and lost his driver’s license for 90 days.
