Blackpink’s Rosé fought tears while explaining why she can’t answer questions about her love life.

The topic came up when the Grammy-nominated K-pop singer appeared on Wednesday’s episode of Call Her Daddy.

At the one-hour, 14-minute mark in the video linked here, host Alex Cooper asked the 28-year-old star if she was “seeing anyone right now.”

The question provoked a physical reaction from Rosé, who jokingly turned to her side and nearly clung to the edge of her chair.

"Oh my God," she said. "If I'm like, 'No,' such a lie, you can tell. … I am looking for love."

Rosé then expressed frustration at how even a simple answer could get misconstrued.

“The first thing when you ask something like that, it's like all the articles, all the comments—I just see it like roll down,” the singer said. “And who has been plotting my downfall being, like, 'This is the comment we take ... so if anything happens, this is the interview we go back to,' to tie this crazy story about how 'addicted' to men I am, for example.

“That's all I think about, so I would love to just be like 'yes' or 'no.’ But being like, 'Is this going to define who I am?' How sad! How sad of a reality is that? That makes me sad.”

Her voice broke as she continued, “It makes me sad for a lot of the industry … I feel like it's just a normal thing. Just because I was from a K-pop group doesn't mean I am a different type of human being. I think we're all born with legs and arms, and everyone's human.”

Rosé explained that the pressure of being a woman in the public eye often made her consider questions like, “How will people try to use my comments to create something?”

“It's not like I'm saying the craziest thing right now,” she said “Am I saying I killed someone? No.”

Rosé made her debut as a member of the K-pop quartet Blackpink in 2016 under YG Entertainment.

Like many South Korean record labels, YG previously imposed “dating bans” for its trainees and its newly-debuted acts. As explained by the BBC, the entertainment companies seek to portray artists as “romantically obtainable” idols because dating publicly can be seen as a scandal or betrayal to fans.

Earlier in the interview, when asked what she would do if she could escape all attention and go anywhere unnoticed, Rosé shared a simple wish for normalcy.

“I would go to the busiest place on earth and just walk down ... New York, Seoul, or any theme park and just walk on the streets,” she shared.

“I still go, but I kind of have to hide,” she continued. “I'd dress really cute and I would go with friends.”

She added that when she was younger, she “dreamed of going to a theme park with a boyfriend."

In 2017, the Blackpink members confirmed on SBS's Party People that they were forbidden to smoke, drink, go to clubs, or get tattoos or plastic surgery, though exceptions could be made with the approval of YG's then-CEO Yang Hyun-Suk.

While Rosé is no longer signed to YG Entertainment as a solo artist, she remains under contract with the record label for Blackpink’s group activities.

Rosé is nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year at the 2026 Grammy Awards for her viral hit “APT.” with Bruno Mars.

Blackpink will release their new EP, Deadline, featuring the single “Jump,” on Feb. 27.
