Grammy-winning artist SZA is giving back in the best way — by teaming up with one of L.A.’s favorite restaurants to feed her community.

On Monday, November 10, SZA announced that she is partnering with Jon & Vinny’s to provide meals for 1400 SNAP recipients in Los Angeles.

“Yall know how much I love Jon and Vinny’s!!” SZA wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. "But it ain’t no fun if the Homies can’t have none!!"

According to the post, the “Snooze” hitmaker reached out to Jon & Vinny’s with the idea to help out SNAP recipients who lost their benefits during the government shutdown. Over the course of the next week, SZA and Jon & Vinny’s will provide 100 meals for two per day to the LA community. The meals will be available for pick-up at Jon & Vinny’s Slauson location beginning Tuesday, November 11 through November 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. PT.

The efforts come by way through SZA’s NOT Charity. She launched NOT Charity back in April, with the commitment “to nourishing underserved communities through holistic solutions.”

"This is not charity, this is community,” she said of her efforts at the time. “It's about attempting to be the best humans we can, responding where we can and filling the blanks where needs arise. Communities are built together. A constant helping of each other, trading of services and knowledge and a wider understanding of human needs and spreading out resources for mutual aid. It's nothing super deep, this is just standard living, basic humanity."

Those in need of meals can request them by emailing notcharity@jonandvinnys.com. A representative will then reach back out with a designated pick-up time. Each family is allowed up to four meals.

“Thank you SZA for inspiring all of us to be there for our neighbors,” reads the social post.
