SZA’s fans often credit her for getting them through hard times in their lives. And for one fan, this came full circle.
Back in August, a TikTok user shared her college graduate photos, and revealed that she was inspired by the singer throughout her collegiate career. She even dedicated her award to her.
“Dedicating my BSc Nursing degree to Solána Imani Rowe [SZA’s real name] - for inspiring me to lead with softness, strength, and soul. SZA till whenever. [S]he said ‘healing starts from within.’”
The photos caught the “Snooze” hitmaker’s attention, and she shared some love back to the fan. In an Instagram Story shared to SZA’s page, she offered the fan a congratulatory message.
“Just wanted to congratulate this amazing queen,” she wrote. “So proud of u.”
Like this fan, SZA has been putting in work all year. Back in February, she performed at Super Bowl LIX alongside headliner Kendrick Lamar. The two began their global Grand National Tour back in April. The tour is set to wrap in London in December.
In the interim, SZA has also been contributing to other artists’ projects. She is featured on the song “Take Me Dancing” from Doja Cat’s new album, Vie, and also recently hinted that she may feature on a remix to Justin Bieber’s “Yukon.”
Last week, she had a conversation with Mariah Carey in promotion of her new album Here for it All, and revealed the two had spent the previous night in the studio.
Known for her soft-tinged vocals and raw, vulnerable lyricism, SZA lives by the leading with softness mantra to which the fan alluded in her post. And given everything both of them have accomplished in the past year, this philosophy seems to be boding well for them.
