Zohran Mamdani, already on record as a Kendrick Lamar fan, is seemingly seen dancing to the 22-time Grammy winner’s 2024 blockbuster “Not Like Us” in a video making the rounds on social media.

The decidedly brief video, seen below, appears to stem from the New York City mayoral candidate’s recent string of appearances at several clubs in the city. Kendrick’s Drake diss, which took home multiple Grammys in February including Song of the Year, is heard playing in the background as Mamdani dances along with a smile on his face.

The club appearance in question was part of an event held by Bushwick Grand. DJs for the evening included Angel & Dren.

In June, the rising star of progressive politics shared his thoughts on Kendrick and Drake’s 2024-defining feud in an interview with Pitchfork. As Mamdani sees it, Kendrick “absolutely destroyed” Drake, with his approach throughout the beef serving as a point of inspiration for his campaign’s focus on the affordability crisis facing many NYC residents.

“At every juncture, he would bring it back to his central points, and I think that’s the key, is that you keep coming back to what your core message is,” Mamdani said at the time. “For me, it’s about the fact that New Yorkers can’t afford to live in the city they call home.”

Monday morning, Mamdani kicked off election week by taking to the streets with a banner reading “Our time is now.” He was soon joined by a crowd of supporters who chanted his name.

Election Day is set for Tuesday, Nov. 4, with Mamdani facing off against Andrew Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa for the position of mayor. Recent polls point to a healthy lead for Mamdani.
