Ben Carson, who is currently standing in the face of all mathematical odds by stillrunning for president, has apparently decided that saying something inflammatory about President Barack Obama might help him muster up more support among Obama-hating Republicans.
"[Obama] was, you know, raised white," Carson told Politico’s Glenn Thrush this week, adding that he "did not" experience much joy upon Obama’s election in 2008. "Many of his formative years were spent in Indonesia. So, for him to, you know, claim that, you know, he identifies with the experience of black Americans, I think, is a bit of a stretch." Adding that he was "proud" that Obama's election "broke the color barrier," Carson walked that statement back a bit by declaring the "night-and-day" differences between himself and the current president.
In the same interview, Carson expresses zero concern for the seemingly disastrous status of his own presidential campaign. "I don't have any immediate plans of cessation," Carson said. "My plans are that we will continue to rise in the national polls and that we will become very, very competitive and that we will do extraordinarily well in the end." At the top of this year, Carson's campaign saw the exit of three very crucial aides. Lisa Cohen, Carson's now former deputy campaign manager, told the Des Moines Register shortly after her own departure that she was "deeply concerned about the campaign's ability to move forward" following the staff shuffle.
