Dog Abandoned in Airport Parking Lot by Woman Told She Couldn’t Bring Pet Without Crate

Instead of returning home, a pet owner in Pittsburgh did the unthinkable and ditched her dog so she could fly to a resort.

A dog was found abandoned in an airport parking lot by police in Pennsylvania.

According to authorities, a woman left her furry companion stranded in a stroller at Pittsburg National Airport last Friday. Airport staff informed the pet owner that she could not board without a proper crate for her pup. Instead of returning home, the woman did the unthinkable and ditched her dog and flew to a resort.

The Allegheny County Police Department shared the news on Facebook. An officer was photographed smiling while huddled near the 7-year-old French bulldog.

"Don't leave your pets behind," the post emphasized. "Officers were able to locate a microchip on the animal but attempts to reach the owner were unsuccessful."

The incident is under investigation as they search for the cruel owner, who "abandoned the dog near short-term parking and proceeded to board a flight."

So far, officers have had conversations with the state dog warden to turn over the pooch. The warden is looking to charge the woman for animal abandonment.

Allegheny County Police Sgt. Jason Donaldson made a statement about the case, saying, "We were able to determine that the dog's owner had attempted to fly with the dog this morning and was denied boarding due to having an improper cargo container. In turn, the dog was abandoned, and the dog's owner continued to its resort destination as intended."

Donaldson also mentioned the owner tried to claim her dog was an emotional support animal, which was unsuccessful.

WTAE News reported that the dog is healthy and under supervised care at Animal Friends.
