A woman has reportedly died at age 26 while attending the bachelorette party of Tyrese Haliburton’s fiancée, Jade Jones.
The woman, Makenzi Kern, was a guest during Jones’ bachelorette weekend on the Caribbean island St. Barthélemy earlier this month. According to TMZ, she died on June 8 from unexpected health complications during the weekend.
TMZ also reported that Kern’s family “does not suspect that foul play, drugs, or alcohol contributed to her death.”
According to an obituary, Kerns died “surrounded by her closest friends on a once in a lifetime trip.” The tribute praised her “silly” personality, her love of water, and her relationship with her sister.
Jones met Kerns on the cheerleading squad for Iowa State University, per TMZ.
Jones also met Haliburton at Iowa State. The 26-year-old Indiana Pacers point guard proposed to Jones last summer at the Hilton Coliseum, where he used to play for the Cyclones.
The engagement came while Haliburton recovered from an Achilles injury he sustained during the NBA Finals.
