President Donald Trump has made it clear that he views the resignation of U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene as a positive thing.
On Friday (November 21), Greene announced that she would be stepping down from Congress after being disgruntled over the administration's handling of files concerning late sex offender Jeffery Epstein. Greene will officially resign from Congress on January 5, 2026.
In a Truth Social post on Saturday (November 22), President Trump referred to his former political ally as "Marjorie 'Traitor' Brown."
"Because of PLUMMETING Poll Numbers, and not wanting to face a Primary Challenger with a strong Trump Endorsement (where she would have no chance of winning!), has decided to call it ‘quits,'" Trump wrote.
"For some reason, primarily that I refused to return her never-ending barrage of phone calls, Marjorie went BAD," Trump continued. "Nevertheless, I will always appreciate Marjorie and thank her for her service to our Country! President DJT."
In a separate phone interview with ABC News, Trump asserted that Greene's resigning is "great news for the country."
The commander-in-chief added that Greene did not inform him of her resignation, saying that it "doesn't matter" and the politician "should be happy."
Although Greene endorsed Trump during his 2024 presidential bid, last week, Trump announced that he'd no longer support Greene in the 2026 midterm elections.
"I have too much self respect and dignity, love my family way too much, and do not want my sweet district to have to endure a hurtful and hateful primary against me by the President we all fought for, only to fight and win my election while Republicans will likely lose the midterms," Greene wrote in her resignation letter.
"It’s all so absurd and completely unserious," Greene continued. "I refuse to be a ‘battered wife’ hoping it all goes away and gets better."
