Hilaria Baldwin, a yoga instructor, mother of seven, and wife of actor Alec Baldwin, found herself at the center of some unexpected criticism and controversy after sharing a video of her 12-year-old daughter Carmen on Instagram. The video, which Hilaria posted on Sunday, January 16, showed Carmen dancing alongside two of her younger sisters while holding their hands.

In the video, Carmen could be seen wearing a white tank top with a gold body chain, a tan skirt, and black tights. She also appeared to be wearing some light makeup.

While the video may have seemed innocent enough to some, others took to the comment section to criticize Hilaria for allowing her daughter to wear an outfit that they deemed too mature for her age.

“Oh dear gosh this is so sad just so sad and just unbelievable. No role model at all!,” slammed one user.

“She’s still a kid!! Why do you let her look like a teenager??” questioned another.

Others told Hilaria that Carmen should be focused on enjoying the last years of her childhood.

“Don’t let her grow up too fast mamma! Keep her as young as you can!” one person advised.

However, Hilaria was not going to let critics get the final word. She responded with a since-deleted Instagram video in which she defended her daughter’s outfit and insisted that her children are safe.

“My kids are so safe wearing a tank top, skirt and tights. She’s been wearing that her whole life. So why is it making you uncomfortable?” she questioned.

“Predators are real — trust me I know — the way to take care of them is not through Instagram comments or shaming,” she went on.

Hilaria continued to assure commenters that she has taught her children, including Carmen, about the importance of online safety.
