Popeyes has gone viral for its latest diss track against McDonald's, but those bars need to be heard to be believed.
On Thursday, July 10, the global chicken chain posted its AI-generated diss track against its competitors in the ongoing "chicken wars" between the two companies. Dubbing the song salvo a "Wrap Battle," Popeyes was apparently annoyed that McDonald's brought back its popular Snack Wrap after nearly a decade of hiatus, and its return came one day after the Louisiana-inspired joint debuted its own Chicken Wraps.
AI filmmaker PJ Accetturo told Tech Radar that he generated the diss track using specific prompts in the Suno platform, which generated the lyrics that were then refined by human input.
"We started with image-to-video, but it was too slow and we had less than 3 days when I scrapped all of our work and said we would use only Veo 3," he said. "We wanted something that went hard but didn’t take itself seriously. Once we switched to Veo 3, creating a story about people having fun around town with chicken wraps became easy. It all came together when we added the clown bits and the crazy animals at the party."
This isn't the first time that Popeyes has partnered with the culture. In May, it was announced that Megan Thee Stallion broke ground on her own franchise.
The Houston Hottie's location is in Miami, Florida, and she's had a partnership with the company since 2021.
"MY VERY OWN @popeyes IS OPENING THIS SUMMER HOTTIES [fire emoji] I just visited my location while she’s still just bones ... This is abt to be THEE LITTEST Popeyes ever," she said at the time. "It's just bones, but in a few months, it'll be chickens."
The "Hot Girl Summer" rapper's Hottie Sauce, created in partnership with the chain, was also released for a limited time.
