A submission to Doritos' Crash the Super Bowl commercial competition is going viral on social media thanks to its "freaky" premise.
As reported by NBC Los Angeles, University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts seniors Zach Shenouda and Ryan Robinson teamed up to create the ad.
The commercial, which was produced in roughly two weeks, sees a young man with comically high-prescription glasses getting a haircut when he notices a bag of Doritos on the other side of the barbershop.
He then sees his barber has Doritos dust all over his fingers, which prompts the customer to lurch forward and suck on the barber's finger.
Needless to say, the finger stuff doesn't go down too well, and the customer gets kicked out of the barbershop with only half of his cut finished.
It's the type of submission designed to go viral, which left some people feeling deeply uncomfortable and others finding it hilarious, albeit "freaky," as one X user wrote.
Regardless of how people feel, it's one of the three finalists for the competition, and voting was open to the public until Tuesday.
"We came up with a universal concept—getting a haircut. And then we thought, what is the worst thing that could happen when you're getting your haircut?" Shenouda told NBC. "And then thinking about Super Bowl commercials, we were like, oh, man, all of them have, like, a final joke, a final button, or a twist."
The duo behind the ad noted they were inspired by other Doritos Super Bowl commercials. If they win the contest, the commercial will air during the Super Bowl on Sunday, and the creators will receive $1 million.
