A new series on financial wellness is coming to OWN.
On Wednesday, December 9, the Oprah Winfrey Network announced Maxxed Out, an unscripted financial intervention series diving into financial disasters and the discipline it takes to pull people out of these catastrophes. The series arrives in time for the new year, as many are setting goals to get their finances in order.
Hosting Maxxed Out is financial expert Leah Collins. Over the course of eight episodes, Collins will help people knock out debts and repair their relationships with money. Through her “tough love” approach, Collins also aims to help each episode's subject help repair their personal relationships, which may have been affected by financial strain.
“Maxxed Out isn’t just a show; it’s a mirror reflecting the financial pressures so many of us face and the ripple effect they have on our closest relationships,” said Drew Tappon, Head of OWN Unscripted Programming and Development, in a statement. “We want viewers to feel seen and understood, while also walking away with practical tools to rewrite their financial story and reclaim their peace of mind.”
In Maxxed Out’s first season, viewers will meet several subjects, including a married couple with two young daughters struggling with debt and differing financial habits; daughters addressing their mother's bad spending habits, forcing six family members to share a two-bedroom apartment; two business-owning sisters, one of whom is a breast cancer survivor who had to cease her oncology appointments due to not having health insurance.
With each of the subjects, Collins will intervene, offering “straight talk, clear strategies, and yes, the receipts.”
Maxxed Out is produced by Lionsgate Alternative Television for OWN. The series premieres on Saturday, January 10, 2026. New episodes will air on OWN weekly, and will be available to stream on HBO Max.
