Paly Hollywood

PALY is a Los Angeles-based streetwear and art brand co-founded by actor and filmmaker James Franco and designer Kyle Lindgren, founded in 2020. The brand grew out of a pandemic-era habit: Franco began sketching daily while watching reality TV at home, eventually drawing on denim jackets for friends at Lindgren's request. Those one-off customs became the foundation of PALY's first collection, and the brand's first retail placement came when Franco and Lindgren walked into H. Lorenzo in Los Angeles and sold everything on consignment. PALY's aesthetic is built around Franco's archive of hand-drawn sketches, which pull from Hollywood mythology, underground cinema, and the darker underbelly of American pop culture. Collections have featured reimagined vintage film posters — including *Paris, Texas*, *Blue Velvet*, and *Drugstore Cowboy* — with Franco drawing directly onto the original poster stock. Lindgren's background in skatewear grounds the design philosophy in wearability, while Franco's references to filmmakers like Kenneth Anger and David Lynch give PALY a conceptual depth unusual for a brand at its stage.
