The artist formerly known as Kanye West, who recently told fans he was “asked to go to the hospital,” has offered his cosign of a fan theory regarding his insistence on continuing to spread pro-Nazi statements on social media and in real life.

X user @samcantmisss shared a lengthy update to the unfortunately Elon Musk-led platform this week purporting to detail what they claimed was “the real reason why Ye is ‘crashing out.’”

In the post, a portion of which is seen below, it was argued that Ye is “using that Nazi gimmick to get back at the same Adidas ‘higher-up’ that almost had him imprisoned when they froze his J.P. Morgan bank accounts before tax season and stole his Yeezy designs and copied-and-pasted them to Adidas.”

In response, Ye wrote, simply, “Thank you, Sam. And it’s simple as that.”

In the past, Ye has appeared to hint at various explanations for his Nazi-aligned remarks, which in 2025 alone have included both “I’m a Nazi” and “I love Hitler.”

In February, for example, he cited the Joaquin Phoenix-led mockumentary I’m Still Here without comment, notably doing so while also referencing late Sex Pistols member Sid Vicious’ own wearing of a swastika T-shirt and comparing himself to a certain Chappelle’s Show sketch character.

I’m Still Here, released in 2010 and directed by Casey Affleck, sees Phoenix playing a fictional version of himself as he embarks on a faux transition from acting to rapping. The actor, as is well-documented, remained in character during various press commitments, resulting in an Andy Kaufman-inspired project that proved expectedly divisive upon its release.

Earlier this month, Adidas, notably, said it had concluded sales of its remaining Yeezy-related inventory in the fourth quarter of 2024.
