Shannon Abloh, the widow of the late Virgil Abloh, will be taking on the dual role of CEO and managing director of Virgil Abloh Securities.

The creative corporation, founded by Virgil, will see Shannon leading a range of endeavors all aimed at ensuring the late artist’s legacy continues on a worldwide scale. Women’s Wear Daily was first to report the news.

While overseeing the corporation, Shannon will lead a number of projects in the coming years that were all built from a foundation comprised of Virgil’s multifaceted approach to his work. The corporation is also expected to launch a philanthropic division focused on inclusion and equity across multiple disciplines.

A statement excerpted in a separate New York Times report provides a bit more context on what lies ahead, including the wide variety of mediums in which Virgil Abloom Securities will be operating. The corporation, per a press release, will see its presence felt in “art, architecture, engineering, creative direction, artistic direction, industrial design, fashion design, music, film, writing, and philanthropy.”

Virgil Abloh and Shannon Sundberg, who first met while in high school together, were married in 2009. In November 2021, Virgil died at the age of 41, with a subsequent public statement revealing he had been diagnosed two years earlier with a rare form of cancer.

In April, Shannon remembered Virgil’s “deep sense of compassion and care for others” during a speech she gave at a Fashion Scholarship Fund event in NYC.

“He believed that being a leader meant serving others in need,” she told attendees, perPeople.
