To help celebrate the sustaining legacy of their beloved Polly Pocket toy line, Mattel has enlisted the proven design prowess of Nadine Ghosn, a name that should be very familiar to longtime Complex readers.

The pairing is ideal, as Ghosn, recently highlighted by Complex as one of the best celebrity jewelers of the moment, was born in 1989, i.e. the same year Polly Pocket was first unveiled to a global legion of fans.

According to Ghosn, who spoke with WWD on Wednesday (Nov. 12) about the collaboration, the process behind bringing this collection life amounted to “a year-long creative dialogue” with the folks at Mattel. Key to the design process, per Ghosn, were vintage Polly Pockets from the jeweler’s own childhood.

Previously, Ghosn brought her artistic voice to Crayola for a similarly elevated approach to crayons. Her pieces have also been prominently featured in Drake's work, specifically amid his For All the Dogs era.

In March of last year, Ghosn spoke with Complex’s Mike DeStefano about several of her most distinct pieces, the much-discussed veggie burger ring among them.

”I feel like we all have inner children and we kind of lose sight of them,” she said at the time when explaining the ethos at the heart of her undeniably joyful work. “My pieces are reviving the inner child and the curiosity that is in that realm.”
