With the 2025 Met Gala quickly approaching in May, a revival of the long-running tradition of enlisting top names from across multiple disciplines for the Host Committee has been announced.

As announced on Tuesday, those selected for Host Committee duties include the following: André 3000, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Simone Biles and Jonathan Owens, Grace Wales Bonner, Jordan Casteel, Dapper Dan, Doechii, Ayo Edebiri, Edward Enninful, Jeremy O. Harris, Branden Jacobs-Jenkins, Rashid Johnson, Regina King, Spike Lee and Tonya Lewis Lee, Audra McDonald, Janelle Monáe, Jeremy Pope, Angel Reese, Sha'Carri Richardson, Olivier Rousteing, Tyla, Usher, and Kara Walker.

This marks the first time a Host committee has been assembled since 2019.

What is the Met Gala 2025 theme?

The gala’s dress code was announced on Tuesday, which has been set as “Tailored for You” for the 2025 fundraising event. “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” was previously announced as this year’s theme, while a new class of Met Gala co-chairs—including ASAP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour, Colman Domingo, and Lewis Hamilton—was revealed last October.

Speaking on the importance of joining as a co-chair for the biggest fashion event of the year during a recent The View interview, Domingo, nominated for an Academy Award for his excellent performance in last year’s A24-backed drama Sing Sing, said that Wintour personally called him and asked him to be a part of the proceedings.

“I’m looking forward to it because we get to honor Black male tailoring spanning decades,” the Euphoria alum said back in November. “It's a historic moment and we know a lot of Black men have sort of made and created the culture, and so it's great to have this honor."

When Is The 2025 Met Gala?

The 2025 Met Gala, with LeBron James as honorary chair, is set for May 5 at New York’s Metropolitan Museum. The “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” exhibition, meanwhile, opens May 10 and runs through Oct. 26.

The exhibition is broken down into 12 different sections—Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism—and features work from a variety of artists including Torkwase Dyson, Tanda Francis, Iké Udé, and Tyler Mitchell.

What is a Black dandy? How much does a Met Gala ticket cost?

Dapper Dan, June Ambrose, and Ali Richmond explored this question and more in this episode of Please Explain. Host Aria Hughes also broke down why a Met Gala ticket costs $75,000.
