McDonald’s has partnered with Cynthia Lu’s Cactus Plant Flea Market to reimagine Happy Meals for adults.
At the center of this newly announced collaboration is the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box, which will be available starting Oct. 3. Buyers can select either a Big Mac or Chicken McNugget-focused version of the box, collectible figurine included. In addition to familiar (albeit reimagined) faces like Grimace, Birdie, and Hamburglar, the range of figurine options also includes the new Cactus Buddy! character.
In a statement, Tariq Hassan—McDonald’s USA’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer—noted the important role nostalgia plays in the customer’s experience while also expressing optimism about future generations being introduced to the brand.
“With menu favorites like the Big Mac and McNuggets at the center of this collab, this is another way we’re reigniting a new generation’s love for our food and the brand,” Hassan said in a press release.
Fittingly, this pairing is further cemented with the launch of official merch. Those who choose to purchase the Cactus Plant Flea Market Box using the McDonald’s App will be entered for a shot at winning free merch, while pieces will also be made available to shop online at this link now. The pieces include short and long-sleeve t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants, and a hamburglar costume. Prices range from $60 to $150.
This isn’t the first time Cactus Plant Flea Market and McDonald’s have linked up. In September 2020, Travis Scott’s collaborative relationship with the fast food provider was extended to include a collection of Cactus Plant Flea Market merch pieces.
