Kanye West Is Selling Everything on His Yeezy Site for $20 'As Promised' (UPDATE)

Ye has mentioned his plans for a $20 price point multiple times over the years, at one point blaming Gap for wanting to "protect the classism."

UPDATED Feb. 12, 5:13 p.m. ET: Ye shared on his Instagram an EOD report after announcing to fans that pieces on the Yeezy site were going for $20. In the text message reportedly by Milo Yiannopoulos, it shows he made over $19 million in one day and sold over 260,000 YZY Pods.

"The people have spoken," Ye wrote.

Ye also confirmed that he would be refunding customers who originally bought the YZY Pods for $200.

The artist formerly known as Kanye West is selling a collection of Vultures 1 pieces, as well as two takes on the oft-photographed WET design from Mowalola, for $20.

As fans will note, the $20 price point is one that has been discussed by Ye multiple times in the past. In a since-removed 2022 interview on the Alo Mind Full podcast, for example, Ye blamed Gap for not hitting this exact price point for the ultimately short-lived Yeezy Gap Engineered by Balenciaga collaboration.

“Gap didn’t take it to $20 the way I wanted to because they were still trying to protect the classism of the idea of Balenciaga and the idea of Gap,” Ye said at the time.

$20-priced pieces currently available on the official YZY site include the YZY Pods, the WET tank, the WET romper, the Vultures 1 box tee, the Vultures logo box tee (in black and in white), a long-sleeve logo shirt (also in black and in white), a Vultures long-sleeve shirt featuring the original Burzum-inspired cover art (two color options for that one too), and Vultures pants.

As mentioned above, Ye has publicly floated his across-the-board $20 pricing approach numerous times. When announcing the new pieces' availability, he acknowledged his past discussions on the topic, saying he was setting the items at $20 "as promised."

At one point, roughy three months before he made his “I like Hitler” appearance on Alex Jones’ show in 2022, Ye said that “everything” in his YZY SPLY store would retail for $20. Furthermore, the larger goal for the operation, at least according to Ye at the time, was to eventually “make clothing free.”

Vultures 1's release coincided, whether intentionally or not, with the 20th anniversary of Ye's classic debut studio album, The College Dropout. Ahead of the album's release, Ye issued an apology to Instagram over his string of anti-Semitic statements. In the statement, which was subsequently made the subject of is-it-or-isn't-it-A.I. speculation, Ye said he was "committed to starting with myself and learning from this experience to ensure greater sensitivity and understanding in the future."

For now, Vultures 2 is expected to arrive on March 8, followed by Vultures 3 on April 5.
