Most things in this fleeting experience we call life come and go, their inherent temporariness a quietly understood aspect of all who encounter them. But true permanence is now in the cards for Givenchy in Los Angeles, as the French luxury house has announced the opening of what marks its first-ever permanent store in the area.
Not only that, but the 8,000-square-foot space also stands as the first Givenchy flagship on the West Coast, period.
"For Givenchy’s first permanent store in Los Angeles, it was important to select a space that would resonate with our brand," Valerie Leon, President of the Americas at Givenchy, said in an emailed statement. "Given Hubert de Givenchy’s love of art and architecture, the Frank Lloyd Wright building felt like the right choice, and the opportunity to bring Givenchy to life there was inspiring."
Indeed, the store is located in the long-celebrated, Wright-helmed building at 332 North Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Admirably, the opening of the space, which replaces the brand’s nearby temporary spot at 413 North Rodeo Drive, will be carried out in what’s been described in press notes as "two phases." First up, the retail portion of the larger experience—all 4,500 square feet of it—will open its doors this month.
The second phase, meanwhile, isn't set for a rollout until next year at the historic building. Worth pointing out, and something to marvel at, is the fact that Givenchy’s move into the Wright building marks the first time the entire space will be used by one tenant.
Hours for the store are Monday through Saturday from 10:00 to 7:00 p.m. local time, and Sundays from noon to 6:00 p.m. For more info, see here.
In December, Matthew M. Williams left Givenchy after serving three years in a creative director capacity. While Williams' position hasn't yet been filled, at least not formally, Givenchy did name a new CEO last month, Alessandro Valenti.
