Athletes have never cared more about style. The NBA dress code and social media peacocking have revolutionized the way our favorite sports stars dress themselves, and gone are the days of garbage-bag suits, pinstripes everywhere, and this thing. That said, not everyone's caught up to the times, which is why each week, we'll be highlighting the poor souls who are still running the proverbial triple option of sartorial playbooks.
This week: the NFL simply isn't trying, the Wizards have a pair of miscues, and more. These are The Worst Athlete Style Fails of the Week.
Geno Smith
If we played for the Jets, we'd want to hide the logo, too. But uh, pssst: we can still see it, dude.
Chris Paul
Chris Paul is a habitual big tie, big lapel, flowery boutonnières, and pocket squares guy. Just because you're a dad doesn't mean you have to dress like Daddy Warbucks.
Dennis Rodman
Rodman was wearing this while denigrating the recent protests for being “disruptive,” so at least it's not just his clothes that are ugly.
Serge Ibaka
Jacket looks a bit…slim, man. Like something a Milla Jovovich character might wear.
Nazr Mohammed
Don't know what makes grizzled pro athletes want to rock the Pee Wee Herman look, but they should probably leave it well alone.
Antonio Brown
Plainly, the Bengals lost to the Steelers because they couldn't keep their eyes off these damn squares. Did he get this suit from Tron, or something?
Andre Miller
As far as we know, NBA players aren't required to wear team gear in the locker room, but Professor Miller stays true to old-man form by rocking whatever the hell the Wizards gave him when he signed his contract this year.
Brian Hoyer
NFL quarterback, or your buddy's buddy who convinced everyone to get bottle service at that place in Miami and then skipped out on the bill?
Marcin Gortat
Gortat, meanwhile, seems to be in negotiations to play a Ninja Turtles villain. We could see it working, honestly.
