Delhi-based brand KARDO has revealed a new collection inspired by a need to “create community, connection and togetherness.”

Titled Connect, the Fall/Winter 2024 drop is anchored in the nostalgia of childhood memories from small Indian towns. The enchantment, exploration and dreams sparked by rail tracks and trains—serving as a symbol of connection throughout the vast expanse of India—come through on items like shirting, cardigans and knitted vests via a blend of artisanal techniques from various locations across India.

Within the offering, garments are bought to life with Rabari embrodiery, a style characterised by its use of mirrors, shells and other decorative elements, as well as upcycled scraps from previous collections, which are then attached together by a natural glue and over stitched on a handloom.

Rounding out the new line is a distinctive style of painting practiced by the Gond, one of the largest tribal communities in India, primarily from Madhya Pradesh. Executed in a unique combination of lines and dots, the artworks, created by 28-year-old artist Mahesh Shyam, intricately portray narratives from the forest and the nomadic lifestyle of the tribe, drawing influence from the stories recounted by his grandparents who resided in the forest.

You can cop the KARDO Fall/Winter 2024 collection later this year from the brand’s webstore.
