The Annoyed Picard meme originated from a screen shot of Star Trek: The Next Generation character Captain Jean-Luc Picard with an exasperated expression on his face. The shot was taken from the episode called “Ménage à Troi," which originally aired in 1990. In this scene, Captain Picard is reciting lines from William Shakespeare and thus is wearing an animated expression. The original meme was created in January of 2012, with the text "Oh come on, you don't even know what a meme is!" After Picard's priceless expression surfaced, Redditors and meme lovers alike had a field day. And so the sensation began. Whatever you do, try not to piss of Picard.
