There's no better place in the world to be exactly who you want to be than in New York City. The boroughs at this point are filled with Midwest transplants and foreigners looking to better their lives. And how can they not? It's a place to experience the best in everything; food, nightlife, fine arts and, of course, fashion. And you would have none of these things without the people who were born and raised in NYC to lay the groundwork and set a high bar.

NYC is home to some of the most stylish gentlemen on earth, but you would be surprised by just how many of them weren't born and came of age in this great city. That's why we're here to celebrate the natives who developed their sense of style in these streets and still absolutely run game on fools when it comes to style. Almost anyone who sees their first rat on the subway claims the title of "New Yorker," but those who were born and raised here are an increasingly rare breed. Born In: Brooklyn

A-Ron the Downtown Don is a New York City Gawd. Bondaroff was once one of the top employees and the physical embodiment of Supreme and their rebellious disposition, rocking the gear exactly how it should be rocked. Now he's matured, running the O.H.W.O.W. art collective, but still giving Supreme the respect they deserve from a Brooklynite.

The Manhattan-born filmmaker is best known for his "Test Shots," which bring in some of the biggest style icons and give them the limelight they deserve. But the man behind the camera can consider himself atop that list as well, often mixing luxury and streetwear with that pinch of NYC flair that lets everyone know where he's from. Friendships with Chris Gibbs from Union LA and the crew at Supreme certainly help keep him laced with the finest goods, but it's the indescribable swagger that only native New Yorkers have that sets him apart. It must be the water here or something.

Hov has been on his Magna Carta tour for all of the world to see via live performance and Instagram posts for a minute now. Within these viewings, you catch a glimpse of the Brooklyn-native's streetwear-centric style making its way across the country. But he'll still drop a Tom Ford suit on you to show he's unfuckwittable, even if he asks you to fuck with him because you know he's still got it.

Style is subjective, but it is an objective truth that Angelo Baque, the marketing manager for Supreme and owner of new streetwear brand, Awake, is a modern-day style icon. Taking some of the most slept-on pieces from the NYC brand and making you look at them in a desirable way has always been something Baque has excelled in. And now his '90s-inspired brand will take his style, and hopefully all of ours, to new heights.

Josh Kissi did it off a blog, man. The Bronx native went from a WDYWT favorite to one of the most stylish bloggers to grace our computer screens. Thriving off of eccentric vintage pieces as he scours the best secondhand shops known to man, you are unlikely to be able to name the labels of anything this man is wearing, but you can bet you'll want to own all of them.

Yasiin Bey, the artist formerly known as Mos Def, is a style maven. He has constantly been at the forefront of leading the charge for personal style, from his early days as a Brooklyn MC to his work in Hollywood. And while is traditional Islamic garb dominates his style now, he appropriates it and adds his own twist to create something no one else is even close to approaching in terms of coolness.

The coziest of the streetwear heads, Ronnie Fieg does it right all the time. The Queens native hasn't worn denim in years, yet his Kith sweatsuits and Ronnie Fieg x Asics collabs kill just about every pair of denim you could possibly try and throw on to stunt. A modern-day legend in the streetwear game, people literally fly across the country to make it to Kith drops and sneaker collabs. And dude is a living mannequin of what people are doing this for.

Melo's been catching a lot of flack for his the play him and his team have put up thus far this year, but you can't hate on the Brooklynite's style. Even though he eventually moved to Baltimore to ball so hard, he couldn't stay away from eventually making his way back to NYC where his style flourished. Now if only his squad could do the same on the court.

As one half of one of the brands running menswear, Maxwell Osborne of Public School NYC and Black Apple NYC is also running the style gamut, which is easy to do when you can rock your signature duds. Born in Greenwich Village, Osborne's signature locks and muted color palette always point him out in a crowd of stylish dudes as the stylish dude like a sore thumb. The style him and Montreal-born Dao-Yi exude is face-meltingly good.

Lauren pretty much single-handedly made vintage military and Americana gear cool again by himself. And his penchant for rocking the coziest knitwear is insane. Bow down, bitches.
