Summer is almost over, and the season of street art festivals is coming to a close. But before we bid farewell to the warm weather, we rounded up some of the best murals and street art projects that appeared all over the globe last month. From dope collaborations to ambitious projects to unconventional surfaces, it seems like artists this month knew no limits. As July comes to an end, check out some of the best public art around the globe with In These Streets: The Best Street Art From July 2014.

Icy and Sot

Location: Chicago

Icy and Sot's mural was part of the “Taking Back The Streets” exhibit this month. The exhibit was curated by WAT-AHH!, a company with a mission to make kids drink water instead of unhealthy sodas.

Anonymous Artists

Location: Los Angeles

Although Sabo was initially credited for the Obama Scandal ads, his involvement was limited to training an anonymous group of artists to execute the project. The ad replacements mimic the marketing campaign from the TV show Scandal to point out the real-life scandals that have taken place under the Obama administration.

POSTER BOY

Location: New York

For this billboard mural, POSTER BOY dressed like a city worker and climbed onto the platform to paint over select letters of a sign that read, “WTF is alternate side of the street parking anyway?”

Ella and Pitr

Location: Abrantes, Portugal

French artists Ella and Pitr, also known as Papiers Peintres, created this mural, When Children Sleep, for the 180 Creative Camp 2014 art festival. The innovative piece uses the grassy landscape in lieu of walls.

Sickboy

Location: London

Early in the morning on July 18, Sickboy released locations to five hidden “art coffins” filled with exclusive original art in London for the public to find. The treasure hunt correlated with his “Make It Last Forever” exhibit, which opened on July 25 at The Outsiders gallery in London.

Gaia and CYRCLE.

Location: Vienna

CYRCLE. and Gaia collaborated to paint a mural on Wesbanhof Station that features portraits of key architects, historically significant buildings, and classical sculptures. The mural was meant to honor Vienna’s unique art and design history.

Jetsonorama and Doodles

Location: Colorado Plateau

Jetsonorama collaborated with Doodles to build and paint a vendor stand in the Navajo Nation. The piece, which took a week to complete, was part of “The Painted Desert Project,” where Jetsonorama invites street artists to bring their work to the American West.

COST, ENX, Space Invader, and Anthony Lister

Location: Paris

COST, ENX, Space Invader, and Anthony Lister teamed up to decorate the streets of Paris. Each posted photos of their street art on their personal Instagrams.

Low Bros

Location: Berlin

Berlin-based street art duo Low Bros painted a World Cup-inspired mural on Urban Spree Gallery's wall. The mural uses Low Bros' typical geometric style.

JR

Location: Le Havre, France

JR and his team pasted images of women's eyes from his 2007 “Women Are Heroes” series onto 150 shipping containers loaded onto a ship. JR wanted to finish “Women Are Heroes” with a symbolic gesture of a ship leaving a port.

Shepard Fairey

Location: Los Angeles

Shepard Fairey's newest mural was painted on the wall of The Line Hotel. The Peace Tree mural is found near the entrance and spans 10 stories.

Strok

Location: Terracina, Italy

Strok's lifelike mural was created as part of the Memorie Urbane Street Art Festival on the walls of a school. The five figures create an optical illusion, as if they are playing directly on the wall.

Vhils

Location: Lisbon, Portugal

Vhils’ latest mural shows off a 360-degree view of all his previous works to date from every city he has worked in.

ROA

Location: Werchter, Belgium

ROA turned cargo containers into cages in a mural for the North West Walls Festival. True to ROA’s usual style, the piece is a visual call to protect animals.

Levalet

Location: Paris

Levalet is known for using his surroundings and objects as part of his art, and this X-ray mural is no exception.

Borondo and Carmen Main

Location: London

Borondo collaborated with Carmen Main to paint John Everett Millais' painting Ophelia on the roof of a boat.

Felice Varini

Location: Hasselt-Genk, Belgium

This mural, Trois ellipses ouvertes en desordre, touches the roofs and walls of 99 buildings. The whole mural can only be seen at a certain angle.

Tristan Eaton

Location: Berlin

Tristan Eaton's take on the movie poster for Attack of the 50 Foot Woman can be found in Berlin. The mural was painted as part of the “One Wall Project” by UrbanNation.

POSE

Location: Chicago

Like Icy and Sot's piece, this mural was painted in support of WAT-AHH!'s initiative to encourage kids to drink more water.

Martin Whatson

Location: New York

Martin Whatson usually uses multiple colors in his murals to compliment his main figures, but for this one he decided to keep it simpler.
