Are rings the new trend in custom jewelry? Usually, this list is populated by tons of crazy pendants and watches. This month, plenty of stars decided to hit up their favorite jewelers to create one-of-a-kind rings instead.
Highlights included a ring for Yeat with an actual piece of meteorite in it, a bracelet that looks like a crayon for Lil Yachty, a ring for ASAP Rocky to rep his family, and more. Take a closer look at some of the biggest celebrity jewelry purchases from February 2024, below.
Yeat's Meteorite Ring
Jeweler: Alex Moss
Yeat has really leaned into the extraterrestrial iconography for the rollout of his latest album, 2093. So of course, he had to pay a visit to Alex Moss to get something to commemorate the release. This custom-cut ring features a real chunk of meteorite in it. The pyramid-shaped meteorite is covered in a natural pattern, while the band is covered in diamonds and tube designs that look like something out of the Alien movies. According to Alex Moss, the futuristic design incorporates 18k white gold and 21 carats of VVS diamonds. There are also green gems on either side of the band. If this is a sign of the future, it’s bright
ASAP Rocky's 'R' Ring
Jeweler: Unknown
We love a sentimental accessory. Ever since ASAP Rocky flaunted his fingers full of rings backstage at the Bottega Veneta Fall 2024 show, the Internet can’t stop talking about one in particular. The gold design features a circular arrangement of four letter Rs that represent the four members of his family: Rakim, Robyn, RZA, and Riot Rose. The birthstone of each individual is also placed inside each “R.” At the time of publishing, the jeweler behind the special ring is still unknown, but props to whoever put this together.
Lil Yachty's Crayon Bracelet
Jeweler: Nadine Ghosn
The most fun piece of jewelry that we saw debuted in February came courtesy of Nadine Ghosn. She crafted a bracelet for Lil Yachty that’s shaped like a crayon. It features baby blue stones to represent the color and “Yachty” written across the band in a font similar to iconic Crayola crayons. In case you aren’t familiar with Ghosn’s work, this is what you can expect. Her other fun designs include bracelets shaped like Bic pens and pencils, stackable diamond rings made to look like burgers, and necklaces that look like earbuds. How nostalgic.
Ice Spice's Opium Chain
Jeweler: Alex Moss
Playboi Carti kicked off 2024 by releasing the track “BACKR00MS,” which features the bar, “I think I need me a Ice Spice, yeah, I want me a munch.” A month later, he had the “Princess Diana” rapper repping Opium. On Super Bowl Sunday, Ice Spice was spotted in a VIP box with Taylor Swift wearing an upside-down Opium cross gifted to her by Playboi Carti. Crafted by Alex Moss, it was made using black gold, 20 pointer diamonds, and natural baby pink–hued pink sapphires. While he wouldn’t reveal a price tag, Moss described the piece as “priceless” to Complex.
Pharrell's Human Made Ring
Jeweler: Jacob and Co.
Pharrell auctioned off most of his legendary chains by Jacob the Jeweler back in 2022 (hi Drake), but that doesn’t mean he vowed to never work with him again. To celebrate his new role as an advisor to Human Made, Pharrell made his most expensive purchase with Jacob to date. It’s a Human Made class ring complete with a giant yellow diamond. It’s a bit more subtle than an illustration of N.E.R.D. hanging from a cotton candy–colored Gucci link chain, but it’s still a crazy piece nonetheless. It’s no wonder Pharrell was geeking out so much when he received it.
