Drake has always been fond of expensive jewelry. After all, you can’t dub yourself “Chaining Tatum” without the pieces to back it up.
Throughout his career, he’s constantly hit up some of the best jewelers to craft pieces we’ve seen before. Most recently, he tapped in with his go-to jeweler, Alex Moss, for the “Crown Jewel of Toronto,” a diamond-encrusted celebration of his home city to mark the release of For All the Dogs.
It got us thinking back on all of the incredible pieces Drake has shown off over the years. We’re talking strictly about the customs designed for him, so things like the $3 million worth of Pharrell’s old jewelry (or gold bars he melted it into?) and the $1 million ring formerly owned by Tupac are out of contention.
Is it the best jewelry collection in hip-hop? Maybe. But we can have that argument another day. Right now, we’re focusing on all the great custom pieces in Drake’s personal collection. Check out our top 10 below.
9.Stone Island Logo
Jeweler: Ben Baller
Remember Drake’s Stone Island era? Now, you may expect to see Drizzy in some Vaffanculo and Chrome Hearts, but in the late 2010s you could count on him always rocking some good Stone Island. The admiration of the brand was taken to another level when he got Ben Baller to create a gold pendant of the Italian brand’s iconic compass logo flooded with green, canary yellow, and black diamonds. The $100,000 chain is definitely memorable and represents a different era of Drake’s career, but a clothing brand’s logo doesn’t have the same longevity as the other pieces on this list. All of the Stone Island likely collecting dust in his closet (he barely wears the brand anymore) also knocks this one down a few pegs.
8.Tupac Jesus Pieces
Jeweler: Jason of Beverly Hills
Drake has never been shy about his love for Tupac. He owns his old rings. His music plays in his bathrooms. So getting some Jesus piece-esque chains inspired by the legendary rapper may not be that surprising. Jason of Beverly Hills was responsible for the two pieces that feature hand-painted enamel faces of Tupac Shakur. One features a red bandana with yellow gold and yellow diamonds, while the other sports a blue bandana and white gold and diamonds. Each hangs from a 70-carat diamond chain and is priced around $300,000. These are definitely a clever way to nod to one of hip-hop’s greatest individuals, but Drizzy has just had too many memorable pieces for these to be placed much higher than this.
7.Ski Mask Cupid
Jeweler: Jason of Beverly Hills
Before Certified Lover Boy was represented by some emojis of pregnant women courtesy of Damien Hirst, a lot of the art direction teasing CLB featured cupid in a ski mask (we still wish this image graced the cover, to be honest). Ahead of the album’s release, Drake even decided to go to one of his trusted jewelers, Jason of Beverly Hills, to create a diamond pendant of the character. The piece features 75 carats of diamonds and hangs from a chain with alternating black and gold links. As great as this one is, the fact that the CLB mascot was ultimately shelved in favor of something else docks this one a couple points.
6.Emerald Patek Philippe by Virgil Abloh
Jeweler: MAD Paris
“Virgil got the Patek on my wrist going nuts.” The memorable line from “Life Is Good” is referencing this particular Patek Philippe Nautilus that was designed by the late Virgil Abloh and executed by MAD Paris. The watch is covered in baguette-cut emeralds and is a one-of-two. The other was, of course, owned by Abloh. Yes, we know the general rule of thumb is to keep luxury watches factory and not flood them with diamonds, but this is a valid exception. The ties to Abloh and the quotable bar that go along with it make this one that much more memorable.
5.OVO Owl Head With Adonis Photo
Jeweler: Eliantte
Drake may be known for giving amazing gifts, but he’s also been given his fair share of great gifts over the years. One of the best is this custom chain by Eliantte that was given to him by Young Thug for his 35th birthday. The OVO owl head covered in diamonds is great, but the real highlight is the photo of him holding his son, Adonis, on the back. The sentimental value slots this one above some others, but isn’t enough to get it into the top half of the list.
4.Big "O" Chain
Jeweler: Kilani
While this pendant isn’t Drake’s best, it’s arguably his most memorable for its ridiculous size. It weighs 3.5 pounds and features 2,100 VVS diamonds. This iconic piece was one of the handful that Drake has had made by Toronto’s own Kilani Jewellery. The “O” represents his October’s Very Own label. Its most notable cameo came in his 2016 interview with Nardwuar. “That’s the thinking chain. That chain is basically what I put on when I was making Views to make the right decisions,” Drake told Nardwuar. “When I needed mental clarity, I just put that on. It’s so heavy that you want to make a decision really fast so you can take it off.” This obviously isn’t something you can wear around your neck every day. Despite the impracticality, it’s still unforgettable.
3.Raptors Championship Ring
Jeweler: Jason of Beverly Hills
Drake’s Raptors fandom is no secret. During the season, he can frequently be seen courtside cheering on his hometown squad. So of course you know he had to go extra crazy when the Raptors won their first NBA championship in 2019. Along with the official championship ring he received from the team, Drake also commissioned Jason of Beverly Hills to make him a one-of-a-kind ring of his own to mark the occasion. Valued at over $150,000, it featured over 30 carats of diamonds and details like a raptor head, a Larry O’Brien trophy made out of diamonds, and “The Boy” written on the band. We also have to mention the championship rings that he gets made for his rec league basketball team when they win. He may have more rings than MJ at this point.
2.'Crown Jewel of Toronto'
Jeweler: Alex Moss
Drake’s newest custom jewelry purchase is also one of his best. The Toronto native once again tapped Alex Moss for the “Crown Jewel of Toronto.” First seen hanging from Drake’s neck in the video for “8AM in Charlotte,” the chain depicts the mascots for the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Blue Jays wrapped around the CN Tower. It features 18 karat white gold, VVS white diamonds ( D-F Color ), VVS blue diamonds, VVS yellow diamonds, Burmese red rubies, and emerald cut white diamonds. Moss says that the two began conceptualizing the piece about a year ago.
Drake provided some insight into the inspiration when he showed it off on his Instagram story on Oct. 10, writing, “A project with my brother for ending it in the 6 and dropping on the 6th in the 6.” All of the six talk is referencing the Oct. 6 release date of For All the Dogs and the final date of his It’s All a Blur tour taking place in Toronto, which he often refers to as “the 6.” If Drake keeps his word, it may be some extra motivation for Toronto’s teams to win a championship. Drake also wrote, “Any team that wins a chip we bring this straight to you for the whole off season.” Neither team is really set up to make a legitimate run at a title soon, but hey, maybe it will give them that spark they need. As far as the value, Moss tells Complex, "Some pieces that are in a museum have no price. That's what this is."
1.'Previous Engagements'
Jeweler: Alex Moss
This one might be a polarizing choice, but the craftsmanship that went into Drake’s “Previous Engagements” chain cannot be overlooked. Crafted by Alex Moss in 2022, it features a whopping total of 351.38 carats of diamonds mounted in 15k white gold. The 42 diamond engagement rings are meant to represent the 42 times that Drake thought about proposing. When it was revealed, many people online were quick to scoff at the idea of Drake thinking about marriage that many times. What they failed to realize, it wasn’t meant to be taken seriously. “Do we not get that this is a conceptual art piece,” said Drake as he laughed about the backlash during his Moody Conversation with Lil Yachty in February 2023. While never confirmed, Drake has said the piece cost him “over 10 Ms” during a fit check with TikToker @christoosmoove back in February 2023. The fact that he may have even spent remotely close to that amount is enough of a reason to consider it one of his best ever. There’s nothing quite like it.
