Knockout

Release Date: March 31

Price: $19.95

Kate Davis, the founder of the jewelry brand Knockout, has released a thoughtfully-designed line of pepper spray. The product is inspired by Davis’ own lived experience and her conversations with close friends and customers. The native New Yorker has always thought about safety when going out, but with a recent rise in crime nationwide that is particularly targeting BIPOC and AAPI women, the idea to create something that would impact people’s lives on a greater everyday basis came to a head. “With the rise in violence against women, gender nonbinary people, and people of color in the past of couple years, I’ve really wanted to create something that was beautiful and fashionable, that women would actually want to carry around, and that also wouldn’t draw too much attention,” said Davis in a press release. Knockout’s pepper sprays are made of a wavy silicone case and come in four different colors: lavender, black, pink and teal with a sleek glow in the dark top. Designed to stand on a bedside table or desk, the pepper sprays are one of the few designed by women for women in the industry. When not in use, they resemble something that looks more like an art object. The pepper spray Davis is releasing is in line with her jewelry line, Knockout, which also sells rings that could also be used as self-defense tools.
