Over the last month, Complex has announced the Man of Next Year in five categories: Music, Sports, Art + Design, Pop Culture, and Style. These men were chosen based on your votes. You debated, you complained, you fought for your favorites, so now its time to celebrate the success of the five victors. The Men of Next Year are:
Each winner will receive a bespoke, custom varsity jacket designed by Marc Ecko. What's more, these chosen men now go on to compete for the top honors as the overall Complex Man of Next Year. The man that is selected--once again by you, dear readers--will be awarded a custom, one-of-a-kind Fisker Karma (the new eco hot rod) as well as his own Complex.com digital cover.
By voting, you will also become eligible to win the chance to be flown by Complex to the cover shoot and ride to the set in the Fisker with Marc Ecko. Style: Mark McNairy
The former creative director for J. Press, McNairy recently launched his eponymous shoe label Mark McNairy New Amsterdam. His kicks run the gamut from rugged to the more refined, evoking the ivy league style McNairy was so influential in popularizing, and are certain to be the footwear to watch in 2013.
Pop Culture: Liam Hemsworth
The youngest in a trio of thespian brothers (behind middle brother Chris, a.k.a Thor, and eldest bro Luke, who starred on the hit show Neighbours), Liam is currently filming the second installment of what is certain to be an epic franchise, The Hunger Games. Not only that, but he'll only be turning 23 soon after 2013 begins. Not a bad start for this Aussie heart throb.
Art & Design: Patrick Martinez
This native of France and resident of New York City has been working across a variety of artistic mediums for over two decades, from video to drawings to installations. His work has been shown around the US, Europe, Asia, and South America, and things are only looking up for him in 2013.
Sports: Robert Griffin III
There is really no way to describe the incredible plays of RG3. It's something you have to watch to believe. This #2 overall draft pick brought hope to the legends and recently joined the Washington Redskins franchise. From Baylor to the Beltway, he truly is a legend in the making.
Music: Mac Miller
Hailing from the town of the Terrible Towels (i.e. Pittsburgh, PA), there is nothing terrible about this 20-year-old rapping wunderkind, who recently teamed up with Pharrell and has a partnership with the legendary DJ Jazzy Jeff to look forward to in the new year. Big things are in store for this guy in 2013, that's for sure.
