The BET Awards are an interesting beast. As one of hip-hop, and black media's biggest nights the BET Awards always bring out an incredible blend of actors and musicians. Sadly, like the great mix of individuals that attend the show, the style is all over the place.
Understandably, this is bound to happen with an event that's not just paying homage to those who have truly excelled in the past year, but also trying to cut loose. With all of the crisp red carpet looks that warrant their place in the spotlight, there were also several looks that were more cringe-inducing than impressive.
With this many celebrities strutting their personal style, we naturally had to find the biggest wins and the most foul fails from tonights red carpet proceedings. These are the Style Wins and Fails at the 2015 BET Awards.
Win: Meek Mill and Nicki Minaj
While Meek looks like a Diddy White Party reject, when you walk in with Nicki on your arm, all of your boring style choices are forgiven.
Fail: Elijah Blake
Shouts to Elijah Blake for picking up every fabric scrap on the Saint Laurent cutting room floor—throwing them all together—and wearing it to the BET red carpet.
Win: Chris Brown
Chris could have really screwed tonight's look up. But we can't front, that patterned jacket is loud, but not annoyingly so. Those shorts though...we could take or leave those.
Win: Machine Gun Kelly
Fresh off his appearance on Hot Ones; MGK came through looking like a bottle of Tabasco. Red and black can be a color combo that looks played out, but here it works in his favor.
Fail: Bobby Valentino
Hey, Bobby. You…you should probably size up.
Win: Jidenna
Jidenna reminds us he's the rapper menswear nerds deserve.
Win: Tyrese
Tyrese reminds us that on a colorful carpet, it pays to keep things monochromatic.
Fail: Ne-Yo
#STOPNEYO2015
Win: Travis Scott
Travis comes through in a regal-as-hell parka and the latest Yeezy release? Outfit of the night contender right here.
Win: 2 Chainz
WOW. Never has a poncho looked so dope. Remember what we said about Travis? Yeah, leave it to his co-performer to nearly outdo him on stage.
Win: Slim Jimmy
Slim Jimmy (that's one half of Rae Sremmurd, for you ignants) really came through with the Polo robe, Rocawear BLAK cargo pants, and Hender Scheme Jordan IVs. What a legend.
