Your Favorite Rappers' First Selfies, Reviewed

Selfies are seeing new life lately, most notably with selfie-fanatic Kim Kardashian securing an art book deal with the final product featuring nothing but pictures of herself. We've spent time reviewing Mrs. West's extensive catalog of self portraits, but it caused us to wonder: what other rappers and celebrities have dipped their toe into the murky waters of Instagram selfies?

We scrolled through some of the feeds of some of the biggest names in hip-hop to find, compile, and review their first Instagram selfie. Some are bewildering, others are cringe worthy, and many remind us of former glories (or past mistakes). This is Your Favorite Rappers' First Selfies Reviewed.

What a bizarre lineup to have in your first selfie. Lupe, likely in the middle production for Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, is in the company of both Tyler, the Creator, and fellow All City Chess Club member (R.I.P) member Pharrell. For a weird period of Lupe's career, this selfie isn't one of the most bizarre public appearances the rapper has in the public record.

This is very “Pharrell in 2012,” the beanie itself gives it away. We may associate Pharrell with his grown-man hat game now, but noting this photo's striped cardigan, slouchy cap, mismatched laces, and baggy jeans—all tied together with a BBC T-shirt and the same louche-laced Timbs he rocks today—it's obvious Pharrell's that he's been dressing his own way for several years.
