Even though celebrities are flush with influence and cash, there are only a few that consistently kill it when it comes to style. The rest of the time, they're just like us when it comes to hits and misses. But since they're constantly in the spotlight, the hits and misses are magnified instantly. Each week, we honor those who rise to the challenge of dressing well, and shade those who clearly threw up a brick.
With Chris Rock's Top Five premiering in NYC, and The Hobbit debuting in Paris, celebrities came out en force via the red carpet. Some stunted, while others simply bricked it. Dissecting the five fails and the top five (pun not intended) celebrity looks of the week that was, these are The Biggest Celebrity Style Fails and Wins of the Week.
Fail: Randy Jackson
Where: Beverly Hills, California
These partially leather sleeves are one in a million...we're hoping.
Win: Tyson Beckford
Where: London
Tyson Beckford shows that overthinking black tie is unnecessary. Bonus points for pulling off an IDGAF move without looking like you're trying really hard to not GAF.
Fail: Peter Jackson
Where: Paris
For a grown-ass man making billion dollar blockbusters, Peter Jackson stays dressing like he's about to go LARPing after his own movie premieres.
Win: 2 Chainz
Where: New York
2 Chainz is known for going over the top, and if the very opulent wheel ain't broke, might as well keep flourishing in excess.
Fail: Dwyane Wade
Where: Miami
If you start at the top and then gaze down, it only gets worse. T-shirt under tuxedo jacet --> tacky leather pants --> ugly-as-hell oil slick sneakers.
Win: Kanye West
Where: New York
Draping doesn't need to be complicated. Simply put, Kanye kills it as usual.
Fail: Harry Styles
Where: London
It looks like Harry Styles is doing his best Boardwalk Empire x Beetlejuice mash-up.
Win: Kanye West
Where: New York
So nice, we had to put him on the list twice. First, he killed it at the (RED) concert in Times Square, then showed up just about everyone else on the red carpet at the premiere for Chris Rock's Top Five. Yes, Ye, the best-dressed section is that way.
Fail: Louis C.K.
Where: New York
All love to Louis C.K., but it looks like someone's narc dad snuck past security and stumbled on to red carpet at the Top Five premiere.
Win: Cedric the Entertainer
Where: New York
We normally don't vibe with bowties, but shouts to Cedric the Entertainer for taking a risk that paid off. Even the camo pocket square looks in place (and we can overlook the fedora).
