In a recent episode of Keeping up With the Kardashians the family, including Kanye West, took a trip to Armenia. During their visit West visited the Tumo Centre for Creative Technologies, a digital media learning center, where he came face to face with one of his biggest fears—3D printing.
“This is what I’m afraid of because the Internet destroyed the music industry and now, this is what we’re afraid of right now with the textile industry," he said.
The administrator showing West around, made sure to let him know that a skilled designer is still required to develop the vision and ultimately the end product. But, he wasn't convinced. “Yeah, but it’s like, there will come a time when people are making their shoes at home,” he responded.
Even though at this point creating anything like a piece from the Yeezy collections is near impossible, Kanye's concern about the advancing technology means it might not be in our future.
