Harlem native Vinny Cha$e has been making waves as the next big thing out of the NYC rap scene, but he’s no newcomer to the game. He started out making videos for Juelz Santana and Lil Wayne which exposed him to the finer things at a young age. Fast forward to today and he’s just as polished on the mic as he is in the mirror. We caught up with Vinny to find out about the 5 Things He’s Rocking Right Now and his obsession with very rare vintage pieces.
Vintage Chicago Bulls Sweatshirt
"I’m a big fan of Vintage sportswear, especially anything Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. I go on the hunt—I love digging for stuff like this because most are one-of-a-kind. Once you find it, you’re not going to bump into somebody on the street with it. If you have a chick, you can have her wear it too. I had one of my joints wear this and she threw on an Escada belt with some black leggings and Jordan 4s and it was crazy."
Vintage Goliath Ultra II Sunglasses
"These are Sam Rothstein’s from Casino from that scene where he says, 'You motherfucker don’t you ever go over my head again.' These shades right here are a really special piece. First off, I was looking for these for a while ever since I saw the movie. He had the burgundy lenses in them, but these are the Goliath Ultra IIs. My mans Matt out in L.A., he owns Dope Couture, and he hooked me up with a pair of these from Corey Shapiro of the Vintage Frames Company out in Canada. If you want anything vintage as far as frames go, he’s the person to deal with."
Vintage Stainless Steel Rolex DateJust
"I'm rocking my stainless steel Rolex, not because of cost or the brand, but simply because it’s been with me since my first video. It's just a timeless vintage watch and I think it goes with everything. It’s a stainless Datejust; nothing too flashy or gaudy."
Karl Lagerfield Neon Jacket
"I'm wearing a motorcycle jacket, but it's covering this neon Karl Lagerfeld jacket. I wore it for the "Karl Lagerfeld" video that me and my homie Kid Art did last year. As you can see, it’s a really bright neon so I didn’t want to be spotted from all the way down the street, which is why I just throw on a black leather over it."
Louis Vuitton Takashi Murakami Dog Tags
"This Louis Vuitton Tag actually came out of the Takashi Murakami collection, back when he was doing the belts and camo. If you look on the tags, it has his name engraved on it. It also came with a key chain, but I separated it and made a necklace out of it. I actually have a couple tattoos of Murakami flowers all over me. I like that shit. Most of my accessories are Louis Vuitton."
