Now that we've gotten through another season of New York Fashion Week, it's time to digest all the amazing menswear that's hit the runway over the past eight days. With every season, there's always a handful of familiar style moments that we come across while looking through the numerous collections. And this was no exception for the Spring/Summer 2015 shows. There was a huge emphasis on elongated shirting, bandanas were given a Parisian touch, and the graphic tees you sported in high school are making a comeback. Check out the rest in our feature on the 6 Menswear Trends We Saw at New York Fashion Week.
Elongated Shirting
The tall tee has been working it's way back into the fashion scene for a while, and next season it'll be more wearable than ever. It's safe to say that you'll be a fool not to have an elongated shirt in your closet when next spring rolls around. Whether it's a simple T-shirt that gives the tall tee more tailored proportions, or an updated button-down with #rare #hemlines, brands like Robert Geller and Mark McNairy have you covered—down to your knees.
Neckerchiefs
When you're tired of rocking your MMG chain, the new move is to tie a bandana around your neck and get real French with it... or channel a trill cowboy—they're both acceptable. Whether tightly tied to add a subtle detail to your fit, or leaving it loose and breezy, getting neck next season is practically nothing.
Sneakers
It seems fashion's obsession with the sneaker culture has hit critical mass. We saw Hood By Air's Shayne Oliver pair polarizing suede wheat Foams with all black jeans and bombers to Public School's Jordan 1 collab putting an upscale take on a retro sneaker. Even Beyond Closet came out the gate with Reebok models like Instapump Furys, classic Shaqs, and a luxe version of the Ex-O Hi. The big lesson here? Stunting isn't just about having the dopest pair of sneakers or the hottest label on your back—it's about putting them both together correctly.
Graphic T-Shirts
Looking to add more to your outfit, but the weather doesn't call for layering up? Cop a T-shirt with a great all-over print or witty saying or an eye-catching graphic across the chest. Unlike the popular graphic tees from streetwear's heyday, the printed methods have improved (and won't fade after one wash), and tees are made with premium fabrics like soft organic cotton.
Bowling Shirts
Want an easy way to look chic as fuck without throwing on a full tuxedo? Get your mind into the gutter. Bowling shirts, which also resemble pajama shirts, have come back in style heavy for Spring/Summer '15. The difference between these and your run-of-the-mill short sleeved button-down? Check the lazier neckline, which shows off some collarbone or a crisp undershirt underneath. The best part? You don't have to check your cool shoes at the door and switch to a bobo pair when you rock one of these.
Jumpsuits
How envious were you when your girl just threw on a dress and be done with their alphet while you struggled with at the very minimum three articles of clothing? In comes the jumper; perfect for cozy boyz, but a pain in the ass when you have to use the bathroom. Early adopters of the trend include A.P.C. and Supreme x Adam Kimmel, but options from this fashion week show the style risk can channel its workwear roots with a modern badass edge—just peep the oxblood version from En Noir with short sleeves and the biker-inspired version from Pyer Moss. Just don't accessorize with a monkey wrench.
