There aren’t many people who’ve lived a life with very little money and then with a lot of money, but for Los Angeles Clippers' Chris Paul, he’s been on both sides of the proverbial coin, which made him an excellent choice for the latest episode of Chime’s Ball On A Budget.
Hosted by sports journalist Ashley Nicole Moss, Chime and Complex created a series to see if some of entertainment’s biggest names could pull off a fly fit for $300 or less, and now it’s CP3’s turn.
Shopping at Harvester in L.A., Moss gave the NBA star three options he could create a look for, and Paul chose (you guessed it) a team dinner. Looking through the racks, Moss noted that Paul would be without the guidance of his stylist, Courtney Mays. He was confident because Paul is all about staying true to himself.
“Ultimately, people want you to show up as who you are,” Paul said.
And when asked if money equals style, Paul emphatically said no.“You have to wear the clothes and not let the clothes wear you.”
Right before Paul’s reveal, Mays sat on the couch and discussed their process. “I think it’s always important to stay authentic to his style. Chris is very serious about being comfortable,” she said with a laugh.
